The line chart illustrates changes in average admission scores for students applying to arts, science, and music programs across several decades.

Overall, science programs showed a steady upward trend and became the most demanding in later periods, while arts admissions fluctuated moderately before rising towards the end. In contrast, music programs experienced pronounced volatility, with sharp increases followed by notable declines.

In the earlier decades, arts programs recorded relatively stable admission averages, with a slight dip before recovering in subsequent periods. After remaining unchanged for a time, arts admissions increased in the final decade, indicating a gradual strengthening of entry requirements. Science programs, by comparison, demonstrated consistent growth throughout the timeframe, rising steadily from the earliest period and maintaining the highest admission averages in the later decades.

Music programs followed a markedly different pattern. Admission averages rose sharply in the second period, then fell in the following decade before peaking again later. However, this upward movement was not sustained, as music admissions declined significantly in the final period. As a result, music shifted from being among the most competitive programs at certain points to having comparatively lower admission averages by the end of the timeline.
