Some people believe that the government should provide free healthcare for all citizens, while others think individuals should pay for their own medical treatment. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
The question of whether healthcare should be universally funded by the government or paid for by individuals remains highly debated. While some argue that free healthcare places an excessive burden on public finances, others believe it is a fundamental human right that governments must guarantee. This essay discusses both perspectives and presents a clear opinion.
Those who oppose free healthcare contend that individuals should take responsibility for their own medical expenses. They argue that government-funded healthcare systems are costly to maintain and may lead to inefficiency and long waiting times. Moreover, when services are free at the point of use, people may overuse medical resources, placing unnecessary strain on the system.
In contrast, supporters of universal healthcare emphasize fairness and social responsibility. Access to medical treatment should not depend on income, as health is essential for participation in society. Government-funded healthcare ensures equal access to essential services, reduces health inequality, and enables early treatment, which can prevent more serious and costly conditions in the future.
In my view, governments should provide free basic healthcare for all citizens while allowing private options for those who can afford them. This balanced approach promotes social equity without overwhelming public resources.
